(jeje, Calsir, that’s you

This 1st Campaign is only a 1st trial to explore some ideas for the coming “strategic Velmad”.
It is no related with World Velmad Championship, Teams nor ranking points.
There are several battles at several seasons: spring 1781, summer, winter, spring 1782 and summer.
The captains are assigned some ships and supposed to go on with them untill the end.
The rules of the Campaign have been changed a little (from the beginning) to keep interest and to improve the same. Main points are:
- Ships with 3 masts broken or hull at 0 will be discarded for future battles.
- Ships with hull 1-500 or 2 masts fallen will miss one season (or round). This does not apply for frigates.
- Ships captured can serve on the capturer side for next battles if they keep 2 masts and hull>500.
A chief division which has got his ship damaged can be assigned another ship by removing her captain.
A chief division captured by the enemy will no longer act as a chief division (he’s in prison).
Battles shall finish at turn 78 to avoid long battles which would make to lose the Campaign perspective and the interest.
- Ships which manage to obtain velmad points 4 times her firing power in a battle will increase one level her crew quality. That is, if San Agustin (1340 firing/damage points) makes 5360 points, shel will be upgraded from normal to veteran.
- Ships discarded for the battle (0 hull or 3 masts fallen) will decrease one level her crew quality. Will be usable however to sail captured ships assumed the captured is of the same rating or smaller. Otherwise the captured vessels will be sailed by beginners crews.
- Crews with more than 1/3rd of loses (casualties) will also lose one quality level as the new sailors are assumed to be beginners.
The result of the campaign is determined by adding 3 components:
1) strategic points: these are a representation of the things “behind the battle”: a convoy being guarded, a city sieged and to be relief., etc.
Every battle has some assigned strategic points which will be held by the “local” side unless the “visitor” beats the locals by making them run away or by winning by double velmad points at the end of the battle.
2) the ships gained or lost count as her rating/100. That is a 74 counts for 0,74 points. In case she is at Hull 0 or without any mast, her value is halved (0,37).
3) The men lost (casualties, prisoners) are substracted and count as divided by 1000. That is: 500 dead/injured plus 300 men made prisoners by the enemy would make minus (-) 0,80 points.
Hope this is now much more clear for you.

Keep checking the threads because the 2nd round (summer 1781) will start soon, and despite you have lost the command of S. Agustin, you have been assigned as captain of the (captured) Monarch. Thank it to the French Admiral Pacheco .
