JAPAN DISASTER
« en: Marzo 15, 2011, 11:14:11 pm »
Sorry for being somewhat slow these days, Gentlemen. But I feel quite shocked about the desaster in Japan. And very embarrassed as an engineer, too.

And, by the way, it seems very appropriate that we as a communinty make a statement, too.

I know some of us have friends in Japan and/or friends whose families live there. It's been terrible: earthquake, tsunami, fires, ... and things are getting worse. As all of you probably know from the news a bunch of heroes are working to maintain under control the nuclear plant in Fukushima. I think all of us are concerned about it.

I'm not sure what can we do, pray or just send our best wishes if you are not religious. I know Japan is a modern and rich country but help is always welcomed and needed. Many countries are sending official help, expert teams, equipment, ... and many other organizations are collecting money.

You can help as easily as sending a sms text message (for example, only here in Spain, JAPON to 28077) or transfer founds to any of that orgs.

If you send money I recommend well known orgs as red cross, save the children, ... directly from their webs or by telephone. For example, american red cross:

You can also use webs as google, globalgiving, causes.com ... that have campaigns to collect money.
