Hello everybody,
I'm sorry for my absence these days. I'm back and ready.
Yes, I still want to be the Admiral - I'll send a private ms with the general orders for the battle.
Now, a few hints for Thaddeus and the other new players:
- Pay attention to possible collisions. Always make sure that you have the correct amount of sail according to the orders and to the possibility of colliding.
- Spare your energy for close range battle: never go beyond a 10% of fatigue if you are away from the enemy. Unless that you can do a bow raking, do not shoot with half a side of guns.
- Use the correct ammo for each distance: "metralla" or double shot to the hull (God, I dont know the english word for this, but you guys look for the translation please) only at less than 150 m.; "enramada" to the rigging at between 150 and 550m, and round shot at more than 550 m; go to the instructions for more information on this.
- Obbey the orders of the Admiral. If you do so, the probability of victory will be higher. When a ship attacks alone, it will likely be captured. Admirals may mark other players for court martial. Obviously, we wont do it in this game, since it's a learning battle, but in ranking battles, this is a possibility. This does not mean that Velmad is a game in which you cannot play by your own. Rather, this system was implemented because in a game played collectively, your decisions will affect the other players.
- If for any reason you think that you should not obbey the Admiral, respond to the flag message with the flag that says "negative." If you will obbey, then send the flag "affirmative", but in any case, always respond to the flag messages. Thus, the Admiral will know that you have received the orders.
All right guys, I think that this is all.
Now let's discuss the tactics and lets' sail !
Good sail to all,
Galvez
